Three generations that perpetuates the expertise of an oil artisan since 1930

Rare are the French artisan oil mills that have survived the multiplication of industrial oil manufacturers in the 1960’s. The Philippe VIGEAN Company is just one of those. Heirs to a long tradition, they perpetuate, from father to son, the knowledge of an oil artisan.

André VIGEAN

First generation – The Company Founder, Mr. André VIGEAN
A passion for his native soil and the tradition of artisan milled oils.

The story began in the early part of the last century in the little village of Clion-sur-Indre in the middle of Champagne Berrichonne region of France, when Mr André VIGEAN set up a small traditional mill to produce traditional walnut and hazelnut oils. Motivated by his entrepreneurship, he bought the oil mill in 1930 and so was founded the “Maison Philippe VIGEAN”. Mr André VIGEAN was a precursor, combining quality products with respect for the environment. This was illustrated by his warm relationships with the peasants who were not only his suppliers of raw materials but his customers as well.

Philippe VIGEAN

Second generation – Mr. Philippe VIGEAN
Modernity – Dynamism – Innovation

Succeeding his father at the head of the family business, Mr Philippe VIGEAN had to face up to the industrialisation of oil mills. He undertook the modernization of the family oil mill but at the same he managed to combine the artisan’s tradition with technological progress in perfect harmony. Being a man of conviction, he installed a complete manufacturing process of cold-pressed quality organic vegetable oils. His attachment to the respect of the environment and social ethics meant that he was able to build privileged and trusted relationships with his suppliers on the basis of certified and controlled raw - materials.

Eric VIGEAN

Third generation – Mr. Eric VIGEAN
A vision of the future for the family business

Continuing the strategy of modernisation undertaken by his father Philippe VIGEAN, Mr Eric VIGEAN brought the company into the third millennium with a strong brand image. He had to face four major challenges: competition, new regulations, quality guarantee and respect of environment. Mr. Eric VIGEAN has succeeded in this quest as he can guarantee consumers consistent quality products, improved traceability and an extended range of healthy oils that meet ever-increasing consumer demands. However, his main challenge still remains the protection of the environment to ensure quality oils.

Perspicacity, perseverance and hard work have made the Maison Philippe VIGEAN, founded in 1930, what it is today: a healthy and competitive business in the field of gourmet and dietary oils.
