Three generations that perpetuate the know-how of a Master oil craftsman since 1930


Very few French traditional oil mills survived the rapid increase in the number of industrial oil manufacturers in the 1960s. VIGEAN is one of these rare companies. Heir to a long tradition, the company transmits, from father to son, the know-how of the oil artisan.







 

First generation:

André VIGEAN : Founding member

A passion for the  terroir and the tradition of rustic oils

 


It all began at the beginning of the 20th century, in the little village of Clion-sur-Indre in the heart of the Champagne Berrichonne region, when André Vigean began working in a small rustic oil mill, making traditional walnut and hazelnut oils.

Driven by an entrepreneurial instinct, he bought the oil mill in 1930 and thus founded the Maison Philippe Vigean. André Vigean was one of the pioneers to combine high quality produce with respect for the environment, as reflected in the close relationships he maintained with the farmers who provided him with raw materials and with his customers.


 

 

 

 

Second generation:

Philippe VIGEAN : Master Oil Craftsman

Following in his father’s footsteps at the head of the family business, Philippe Vigean had to face the industrialisation of oil mills. He thus undertook the modernisation of the family oil mill, seamlessly combining traditional craftsmanship and technological advancements.

A man of conviction, he set up a manufacturing process for producing high quality cold pressed oils. His commitment to the environment and social ethics led him to build close, trusting relationships with his suppliers, based on certified and controlled raw materials.


 

 

 

Third generation:

Eric VIGEAN : Master Oil Craftsman

A vision of the future for the family business


Continuing the modernisation project undertaken by his father Philippe Vigean, Eric Vigean has brought the company into the 21stcentury with a strong brand image. He has had to take on four major challenges: competition, new regulations, quality assurance and environmental protection.

Eric Vigean’s efforts have paid off, as his customers are guaranteed a consistently high quality of product, improved traceability and a growing range of healthy oils meeting customers’ new expectations. However, his main challenge remains the protection of the environment to ensure quality oils.


 





Perspicacity, perseverance and hard work have made the Maison Philippe VIGEAN, founded in 1930, what it is today: a healthy and competitive business in the field of gourmet and dietary oils.
